Rebecca entered her mom's house. No one was home. She had such a long day. She wasn't sure what time school started at, so she left around 7:30, stopping at a coffee shop. She met a girl named Serena, she really wanted to make friends with her. Rebecca also vaguley met a few of Serena's friends. At school, she spent most of her time in the guidance office trying to sort her courses. After school she didn't see any of the people she had met, so she just walked home.
Rebecca walked into her room grabbing the TV remote. She searched the guide until she found soccer scores. "football! something from home" she said to herself. She watched the live game Manchester United VS Chelsea. She knew her brother would be in the crowd, cheering for their favorite team, Manchester United.
Half an hour passed and the score was 1-0 for her team. She heard the front door open. She walked out to see her mom. It wasn't her mom, it was David, and he was wearing a suit, thank god, it was good to see him with clothes.
"Oh, hi" she said stopping, unaware that he lived here.
"Hey Becca, you're mom's not going to be home tonight, so it'll just be you and I for dinner, hows about I order chinese?" he said.
"Sure, that sounds fine." and she returned to her room.
She walked back into the room and heard her cell phone ringing. The name ALISTAIR lit up on the screen. She felt her heart pound.
"Hello?"
"What-oh my sexy mate!"
"Ali! it is so good to hear from you, I miss you guys so much"
"well we miss you too, love"
"And how were the MTV Europe awards the other night?"
"Oh brilliant! I wish you could've come! You should her heard Jen screaming her lungs out when that Robbie Williams bloke came on. She got to touch his hand, I'm never going to hear the end of it." he said with a chuckle.
Rebecca laughed. "Yeah, that sure sounds like Jen."
"So whats up with you? How are you liking America?"
"Well it's ok, certainly different. It doesn't seem as...clean. I don't know what it is."
"Yeah, I've seen those american girls on tv shows and they are always so hyper, and screaming and jumping at the fact that they are on TV."
"I've seen girls here wearing their pajamas on the streets!"
"barmy, that is strange"
"and there's no school on saturdays!"
"Thats not fair." he said with a laugh. "And how's your mum?"
"Good, even if I've barely seen her, and her boyfriend is good too."
"I didn't know she had a boyfriend"
"Neither did I, until now. Hes easily like 6 years older then me."
"Oh... thats odd. Made any friends?" he said changing the topic a bit.
"Well I met a girl named Serena this morning, oh, and a guy in the elevator the other day."
"Ohh a guy? and did this guy try to chat you up a bit?" he said playfully.
"The americans call it 'hitting on' or something like that, and no, we just met, and thats all."
"Well thats good, you have to have to watch out for those american boys, I've seen the type in the movies."
"Oh of course, I'll be careful."
The two of them had a bit of a fling in the summer. Rebecca and Alistair, and a few other friends went to Venezuela for a month in the summer, living in a house on the beach. Rebecca thought of how the two of them would lie in the hammock together watching the sun set.
"Maybe we could hang out in the winter hols?" she said.
"That would be great"
She could picture him grinning his handsome boy-ish grin. He was irresistible. Alistair is 6'3, royal blue eyes, short-ish shaggy dirty blond hair, and usually had a 5 oclock shadow.
She could smell the chinese food that had just arrived.
"I got to go, dinner time, I am eating with David"
"The mums lad? Well give him a chance."
"Cheers"
"I miss you" he said with his voice dropping
"I miss you too"
"Cheerio"
And she clicked off. Before going to eat, she checked her e-mail. There was one from Serena to go see a movie tonight. She quickly replied that she wants too.
She walked into the kitchen and got the plates out. The two of them sat down in silence. She started to scoop some noodles on to her plate.
"So how are you liking New York?" David finally said.
"It's nice" she said with barely any expression in her voice.
"Cool. Got any plans this evening?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm going to see a film with a girl from my school."
"Awesome." he replied. Rebecca couldn't beleive how he had the same vocabulary as her 15 year old brother Marc.
She finished her meal. "I should go get ready she said, taking her plate to the sink.
She went into her room and changed her clothes. She put on a pair of jeans, and a new Juicy Coulture fine gauge jersey tee with lace. She went into her bathroom to brush her teeth, and touched up her makeup. It was simple, a little black eye-liner and some mascara. She grabed a mac lipgloss and put it in her Fendi Selleria Leather Linda Bag. She put on a pair of matching Fendi mules.
She stepped out into the elevator. It stopped on the way down, and Paul entered.
"Hey you" he greeted her with a smile.
"Hi" she smiled back.
He looked at her up and down and let out a quick breath. "Wow, you're looking nice this evening"
"Thanks" she said, smiling again, acting embarrassed, but she knew she looked good too.
"I hope I'm not being too forward, but could I take you out for coffee, or dinner sometime?"
"That would be great" she said taking out a piece of paper from her hand bag, she scribbled something on it. "Here's my mobile number"
"Thanks, you'll be hearing from me."
The two of the stepped out onto the street. He hailed her a cab. "Here you are miss Rebecca, have a nice night." he said playfully.
"Thanks, you too" she said with a wink. He shut the door. "5th Avenue between 82nd and 83rd, please" she told the cab driver, and she went off.
